Reading to children is one of the most rewarding experiences.
It isn’t simply reading – it’s exploring ideas and worlds.
Volunteer at your local nursery or school, or find a friend with children.
Take the time to ask questions about the story, and how they might approach the problems in the story.
Reading isn’t about the words on the page – its about the themes it raises and the worlds it explores, and children are brilliant at asking why, and thinking between the lines and what might happen if things were different.
It can be incredibly hard to spend time with children if you don’t have any within your circle, but many schools look for reading support from the local community.
