Tonight, take a new route home.
Perhaps get off a stop earlier or later.
Turn left instead of right. Walk on the opposite site of the road.
Observe the things around you. Take note of what you see.
Don’t use your phone to work out the new route or to get yourself home. Just your intuition.
It’s very easy to move around the world on auto-pilot, you probably manage to get to and from work every day without thinking about it. These repeated actions form deep deep pathways in our mind, meaning that we don’t need to observe the things around us, and we miss out on interesting things.
Forcing yourself to walk a different route lights up different parts of your brain, heightens your alertness and awareness, and uses all of your senses to try and navigate a new space and environment.
