Open Google Maps.
Find a random place within five minutes walk from where you are now.
Somewhere you haven’t been before, or spent much time.
Walk to that place and spend 10 minutes observing what is around you.
If anything piques your interest, go ahead and look closer.
Write down anything you found in your notebook.
It’s crazy how little we take time to notice even our closest local area. Too often, we are head down and thinking about other things – especially in areas we know well.
This exercise forces you to go and spend some time in a place you probably walk through frequently, but don’t stop to look around.
